Bob McGee

Bob McGee began playing rugby at Xavier High School in New York, NY is 1996. Highlights of his time at Xavier include playing in one National Championship match in 1997 and participating in a tour of England in 1997.

Following high school Bob enrolled at Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute in Troy, NY. While at RPI, he was a 4 year starter at hooker, two year captain and president of the club. Highlights of his time at RPI include winning the 2000 New York State Rugby Conference Collegiate Championship and advancing to the National Sweet Sixteen that same year.

Following graduation, Bob was commissioned as an Ensign in the United States Navy. After 5 years in the US Navy, Bob was living in a Virginia Beach, VA and became involved in the sport of rugby again as a referee. At this time Bob also began his coaching career as a high school football coach at Ocean Lakes High School in Virginia Beach, VA.

In 2012 Bob moved to Corning, NY and began teaching at Corning East High School and was a member of the Corning Hawks football coaching staff.

In 2016 Bob founded the Corning Rugby Club and brought rugby to the area.  Bob is currently a math teacher at Corning-Painted Post High School and the defensive coordinator for the Corning Hawks Football Club.

Bob holds a USA Rugby Level 200 Coaching Certification, along with certifications in First Aid/CPR/AED. Bob is committed to continuing the growth of rugby in the Southern Tier and providing all youth the opportunity to play the great game of rugby.
